Follow these few rules to burn fat and get an amazing set of six pack abs
Just because you can’t see your abs doesn’t mean you’re not rockin’ a killer set under your sweatshirt. We are all looking for that miraculous exercise or miracle supplement that will give you six pack abs overnight. The simple fact is that that tight toned midsection requires time, dedication and a lot of work.
We all stray now and again on our quest for that killer set of six pack abs. But, if you follow these few rules and keep your mind on the prize you’ll be lean and mean before you know it. These simple habits make a world of difference and before you know it you’ll be ready for the beach.
- Start Your Day With Water
You wouldn’t go all day without drinking anything. So, after a 8 hour slumber you need to hydrate. Start your day with 16-32 ounces of water as soon as you wake. That simple step boosts your metabolism by almost 25 percent for 90 minutes after consumption. Remember, muscles grow exponentially faster when they are properly hydrated. Shoot for at least one gallon of water a day to keep your body hydrated and primed to burn fat and reveal those six pack abs you’ve been hiding.
- Never Skip Breakfast
Studies have shown that men that skip breakfast are 4 1/2 times more likely to have belt busting guts than those who make sure to get their morning nutrition. Within the first hour of your day make sure to have a meal or protein shake with at least 300 calories. Researchers found that the larger your morning meal, the leaner the midsection. Don’t go overboard though. Try and keep your breakfast under 600 calories. A healthy breakfast will keep your body fueled and help fight those afternoon cravings that have you running for the vending machine.
Train to Win
Everyone has six pack abs, even if you can’t see them. They are just hidden under a layer of flab. There is no need focus on endless amounts of sit-ups, ab machines and crunches to carve out a six pack. Take that time to fire up your metabolism and burn that spare tire by incorporate compound lifts such as squats, deadlifts, bench press and bent rows. Combine that with HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and you’ll see the pounds melt off like a Popsicle in august. HIIT workouts burn as many calories as running at a 6-minute-per-mile pace for the same timeframe. Plus it changes your overall body composition by adding muscle.
- Brown Bag Your Lunch
Dig out your Scooby Do lunch box or invest in some brown paper bags. Make preparing your lunch part of your morning routing. If you don’t have refrigerators at your job consider investing in a small cooler. Stock it full of apples, cheese sticks, almonds, a protein shake and a balance lunch with lots of lean protein. This plan of action will keep your body well fed and satisfied throughout the day crushing that overwhelming urge for a greasy cheeseburger. This also provides your body with the fuel and nutrients it needs for your workouts.
- Goals, Goals, Goals!!!
I’ll say it again, KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE! If you are mindful of your eating and are keeping aware of your mission you are less likely to go overboard when hunger hits. Everyone deserves a cheat meal once in a while and sometimes that chocolate cheesecake is just calling your name. But, being accountable for what goes in your mouth is the biggest step in gaining the ever elusive six pack abs. There are many free apps out there that can help you track your diet allowing you to make up for the occasional slip by increasing your activity or subtracting the excess from the next day’s allowance. We at Chrashfit still use a pen and paper most days but the “my fitness pal” app is a great convenient way to stay on track.
- Love Your Pillow
There’s that old saying that, “muscle isn’t built in the gym, it’s destroyed there. Muscle is built in the kitchen and the bedroom.” Sleep is an important component to revealing your six pack abs. Improper sleep not only robs your body of the time it needs to heal but it disrupt the hormones that control your ability to burn fat. Improper sleep makes the body resistant to insulin which leads to fat storage in your midsection. So, make the time to sleep and recover from the punishment you put your body through at the gym.
